Hazing is not Amazing

HAZING

This article is based off of a study done by Alfred University. Hazing, as they define it is, any humiliating or dangerous act that is required to join a group, whether or not they are willing to participate.  The study found that in 1999, 79 percent of NCAA athletes they surveyed had experienced hazing, and 51 percent were forced to participate in hazing with alcohol. The study also found that 76 percent of people joining fraternities or sororities were hazed, and 22 percent of students in the arts were hazed.  They said that this can be stopped if administrators create policies against hazing on campus, discipline students and groups who haze, and show everyone that hazing to bad.

I am in a frat and on the hockey team.  Hazing is something that I have seen and been apart of.  I will not share details but will admit that something should be done about it.  I believe that it is a complete lack of respect and shows people that they aren't as good as older members.  I will never involve myself in these activities and will approach others that I witness committing this crime.  It is not something that should be overlooked but is hard to find the source of the conflict.

Facebook Gone Wild

Recently, many inappropriate image have been showing up on people profile via spam.  The article titled "Facebook investigates pornography deluge after users' complaints" provides a few words of comfort for the everyday facebook user.  Facebook's spokesman tells us that user protection from such content is a top priority and they are doing everything they can to fix the problem.

This topic is very interesting to me because I encountered this just the other day.  I would appreciate the site to do everything they can to stop it but we have to understand what the creators of facebook are up against, millions of millions of users.  I would appreciate the problem being solved but I understand the delay.

SPLODE!!!

The coolest advertisement that I have seen recently just happens to be a cause and effect commercial.
Splode! ....
is the newest soda with 100% more carbonation than normal soda.  You see a group of three people at the top of a bridge about to bungie jump off the side.  This commercial looks like your normal, extreme commercial aimed towards teens.  It is visually stimulating because the video makes you want to go either bungie jump or buy the soda.

What happens within the rest of the video is the first two people dive down and pick up a soda and crack it open on the way up.  The third person jumps of and grabs a soda, he cracks it open and then blows up.  Then a quote show up saying "Only one product actually kills a third of the people who use it. Tobacco."

This ad is very affective because I saw this a long time ago and still remember it.  Obviously that proves that the message is memorable.   The quote is the major point of the ad and the colors are intimidating and make you really pay attention.

A Truly Perfect Evaluation

Why men don't talk to women

This video is done by drawing out many situations and connecting them together to make it look like a movie.  This video is very well done and adds some humor to a very serious topic.  The message is obviously from a man's point of view but is partially true.  If a women were to make a video on this topic it would only be about men only wanting sex.  The author is trying to tell people that men don't talk to women because they always have some excuse for not talking to you.  Based on my experiences this is a pretty accurate description of how men and women interact.  This is obviously not always the case but is true in many situation.

Posters

These two poster are about the recognition of this special day.  We can easily see the difference of the two.  The first poster has a lot more color and is an upbeat picture that gets a person excited while looking at it.  The other poster is dull and makes you think about the past.  This technique works with some people but a lot of people enjoy looking at the prettier picture.  My personal opinion is that the color one is better. I enjoy the eye candy it gives me.  The other poster is  not a attractive and a lot less fun to look at.

Mid Term Part 2

I used GoAnimate.  I made a cartoon video by typing in dialogue and letting the rest of the system make the video.

I like the set up.  It was very easy to do but obviously the voices sound like robots.  If I could have changed something, I would have gotten my hands on a microphone and recorded my voice. This would have made the voices sound realistic.

Better quality would have added more emotion and I believe the audience would enjoy it more.

The Office Stars: Dwight and Jim

Dwight Schrute and Jim Hapert are two co-stars of NBC's hit show "The Office".  These two men are about as opposite as they come and their extreme differences create very comical TV.  Dwight Schrute is a serious person, as shown above, where Jim is more laid back.

Dwight always wears a bland color. Something brown or grey, but Jim is almost always in blue and green.  The colors match their personality.  Just by looking at Dwight, notice the lack of social skills he possesses.  Jim seems like the guy that just wants to have a nice conversation with.  This is a great cover up for the fun pranks he pulls on Dwight throughout the show.

The two characters have desks that border each others so they are always looking at each other.  This connection seem to spark a little rivalry between the two.  Dwight takes it as a serious threat where Jim tries to poke fun at Dwight.  Dwight loves to act like the smartest man on earth, and when he does, Jim always calls him out on either grammar and/or a dumb sentence in general.

These two characters are not similar in anyway except the place in which they work, Dunder Mifflin Paper Company.  Dwight and Jim are the two funniest men on television and I believe it is because of the lack of similarity between the two.
